Expansion Shells
M31 Spring Loaded Shell
The MM31 shell was designed and built for Mansour Mining to respond to the ever changing mining environment where bore hole diameters are now larger than the capabilities of existing mechanical anchor shells. The three main causes of enlarged bore holes are button bits diameters larger than conventional blade bits, spalling in highly stressed rock and/or drilling in high sulphide ore zones. Tests have shown that the MM31 shell can expand beyond the current capabilities of all other expansion shells presently on the market. The MM31 shell still retains all the advantages of the spring loaded TT6-SL shell.

| The Strata Control expansion shell uses a unique forged steel 3 leaf design that ensures that the radial forces exerted by the leaves on the surrounding rock are uniformly spread at the anchorage point. It is available in both the standard or spring loaded version. The bail type unit incorporates a pop off top. This will not allow the bolt to slip past or break the bail.
The plastic sleeve that holds the shell together during transportation has a collar at one end that will automatically be removed during bolt installation, thus ensuring a proper installation.
The TT6SL (spring loaded) version incorporates all the above features with added advantage of a spring that allows the anchor to be set and ready to tension without having to preset or rotate the bolt. This feature is the most significant new development in many years.
